Hi Kurt! My finds while library-wandering yesterday included books on renaissance woodcut alphabets from all over Europe, and a catalogue from an exhibit on children's literature from the 16th through 19th century. I also stumbled upon the section of books about marbling, right next to the copying room at the British Library. I then saw some giant marbled tomes on a cart near the front desk ready for delivery and narrowly restrained myself from snagging them.

Now that I do about 50-50 bluegrass fiddle and classical violin, I get the "do you play a different instrument for either of those?" question myself. X-P

Unlike the Baroque question where there *are* "hardware" differences involved, I usually just tell them that it's a difference in the musical vocabulary and the "accent" that you "speak" through the instrument--another important difference between Baroque and modern playing...Great post, Emily!
