New York City-based ensemble SIREN Baroque performs a public concert entitled “Elisabeth at the Court of the Sun King”, part of a baroque weekend workshop for young musicians presented by The Music Academy at Penn State University. The program includes music by Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre and other favorite composers of Louis XIV.

SIREN Baroque is an all female collective of baroque musicians dedicated to presenting historically informed performances of instrumental and vocal music that spans the late renaissance to early classical eras, as well as commissioning new works for the baroque ensemble.

Elisabeth at the Court of the Sun King: A Baroque Workshop for Young Musicians

Violin, viola, cello and piano students (ages 8-18) are invited to a weekend of hands-on learning about baroque music and dance!Workshop director Emily Hale and colleagues from New York City-based ensemble SIREN Baroque will introduce students to period instruments, coach student chamber ensembles of all levels*, and present a Saturday evening public concert. Auditors are welcome to register and observe sessions as we explore the culturally rich time of Louis XIV through the eyes of one of his favorite musicians, child wonder Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre. Get your time travel passport in order for interactive learning about life and music at the court of  the Sun King!
